Winston Churchill is famous for his stirring speeches that gave the British the nerves of steel they needed to stand strong through the Second World War, and for guiding them skillfully through the hardest of times with strength, resilience, optimism and humour, whilst defying the Nazis relentlessly. The price of greatness is responsibility. A pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. An optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty. For I myself am an optimist. It does not seem much use being anything else. His words still echo down the generations, inspiring hope and dogged resilience.
Most of us know of Churchill as the prime minister who helped Britain win the war, but before he ever took up that role, he lived quite a life! |
