Jobs can be lost for a number of different reasons. Companies closing down or relocating, companies laying people off due to limited resources, or deciding you are not performing well enough to meet expectations. Whatever reason this happens, it can feel like your world is being turned upside down, especially if it is a job you really liked and wanted to succeed in. Every situation is completely different, and everyone responds to things like this in different ways. You might be angry, you might be sad, or asking “why me?” It can knock confidence, and, if we let it, cause us to feel not good enough, or less than.
If this is happening to you, I want to let you know that you will find a way forward. So many people have come through similar and worse situations multiple times before finding their happy place, or the thing they love doing. Also, it’s ok to be upset for a while. Allow yourself the space to get over the shock, and get the heavy emotions out of your system. You have just had horrible news, and you need time to decompress! You will, sooner than you think, be able to think clearly and plan your next steps.
