Syed Moiz Balkhi was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and moved with his family to America in his early childhood.

After doing spectacularly well on a test, he jumped two years ahead, and started high school at the age of 12! (In the USA, children start high school at the age of 14, after middle school). During his time in high school, young Syed started experimenting with Wordpress, and became very good at it. Later on, he took on a team of people who would create websites for clients.

While this was happening, he realised that a common problem that kept arising was that his customers were not sure how to use Wordpress. He saw a need for a learning facility to help people get the most out of it. This prompted him to create a tutorial website attached to Wordpress, called WPBeginner. This was almost immediately made available to the wider public. This led to him being invited to be the keynote speaker at a number of WordCamp conferences.

Before he had started getting involved with wordpress, and web development, Balkhi’s first love was cricket. He had been a keen player in high school, but had put it on hold in order to pursue his newer projects. But this was definitely not the end…

Some time later, he returned to his love of cricket. He used his marketing skills to get more people interested in the sport in the USA. He became a Board Member of Cricket Council USA.

Aside from his entrepreneurial endeavours, Syed Balkhi has accomplished a lot in philanthropy as well, playing a key role in the building of brand new schools in places including Guatemala and Cambodia. He also has a keen interest in commercial real-estate.

Today, he owns several online businesses, and is an investor in many more.
