Fun Food Moments
Whatever this weird lockdown thing looks like for you, you may be looking for some ways to make life a little bit more interesting.
Here are a few cool ideas to keep things fresh through those afternoon slumps.
This new coffee that looks a bit like chocolate ice cream is the latest trend on Instagram, Twitter and TikTok. It originated in South Korea in the last couple of months, as social distancing measures came into force throughout Asia.
#dalgonacoffee is super pretty to look at, but so easy to make. It can be made with hot or cold milk. Simply measure into a bowl two tablespoons of instant coffee, the same amount of sugar, and the same again of boiling water. Grab yourself a little balloon-whisk (or electric) and whip them together really really fast until they turn into this gorgeous velvety froth. Then, spoon into a glass of hot or cold milk, and enjoy!
If you are using hot milk, make sure your glass is heat proof. I learned this the hard way when my glass exploded as soon as I poured hot milk into it.
These things are pure genius!
It’s your favourite cake in your favourite mug. You mix all the ingredients (2 tbsp melted butter, 2 tbsp caster sugar, 3 tbsp milk, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, 4 tbsp self raising flour) together in your mug, and after two minutes in the microwave, it’s ready for you to enjoy with a dollop of cream, or your choice of icing. The great thing about these, is you can switch it up to be a coffee cake, a chocolate cake, a melting middle cake (by layering the cake batter with nutella or something)
Epic Fruit Platters
Fruit is awesome. It’s so colourful, and very refreshing to eat. A great and possibly under rated treat is to make yourself the most epic fruit platter EVER. There isn’t a recipe for this, as you can add anything you want. But I would totally recommend a couple of things I really love at the moment - melons (water, cantaloupe, honey dew) sable grapes (these are black grapes with a uniquely rich and interesting taste. You can find them in Aldi) and pineapple. These are so tasty, and they have a thing in them called bromelain, an enzyme that is great for reducing inflammation and supporting the immune system. Fruit has a special way of perking you up when you are feeling a bit sluggish.
