Born to a Jewish family, Meyrowitz graduated from Boston university with a Bachelors degree in marketing and management. She started to work at TJX Companies in 1983. In 2001, she became the executive vice president of Marmaxx, the largest division of the company. She then rose to the position of senior executive vice president in March 2004.
Carol Meyrowitz is ranked 26th on CNN’s 50 most powerful women in business. Forbes listed her as the 76th most powerful woman in the world.
