The women who made their own career path
Hillary Peterson - True Botanicals Founder and CEO
Stories that start badly are often stories that have a happy ending.
This is definitely the case for Hillary Peterson. It took something very traumatic - a cancer diagnosis - to change the course of her life and career for the better.
Following her shocking diagnosis of thyroid cancer, Hillary began to educate herself about the ingredients in the beauty and skincare products that we buy on the high street every day. She learned about the toxic affects that the chemicals we put on our bodies have on both the body, and the planet. She came to the conclusion that she would not put things like this IN her body - so why would she want to put them ON her body?
Hillary wanted to give women a way out of this, and to give them the results they want and need, but more natural and pure ingredients.
She is passionate about using information to empower people in making the best possible choice for their individual needs.
Before starting her business, Peterson had a great career in the fashion world. She was the senior advertising manager for the 501 jeans brand. Before this, she worked as marketing manager for the Levi’s brand.
She won the Elle magazine Genius Award and her products can be found at many of the world’s top spas.
Leaving behind the predictability of school, college or university can be pretty daunting. But, equipped with a strong set of skills and qualities, you will be ready to adapt.
That is what our Employability Academy exists to do.
We have worked alongside school leaders, teachers and young people to introduce education leaders to what the world of work really requires of them, and teach skills such as leadership, communication, time management, and team working to people in a practical way, with real life applications.
The Missing Ingredient...
Many of us know exactly what we need to do in order to get the results we want, so why are we stuck where we are?
Because consistency is the missing ingredient! The next step to finding the new practice or habit you need to get you moving in the right direction is actually implementing it, and repeating every single day, and making it a routine part of our lives.
This sounds a bit mundane, but success does not have to feel like an exciting novelty every single day!
Consistent routine is our staple diet that makes the big milestones possible.
Spotlight on...CONTENT MARKETING
#contentmarketing is about expressing yourself as a brand, and telling everyone who you are and what you are about. Images and photographs 📸 are a very important part of this.
In the last ten years, audiences are communicating with images more than ever. And it’s easier than ever to be creative, as mobile technology 📱. has become an essential part of all of our lives.
We all use smartphones everyday. But are we really tapping into all of their creative potential?
This week, I have been exploring ways to use smartphones to take better and more professional looking photos, and have realised that it’s easier than I thought!
There are loads of online resources that can teach you how to take professional looking photographs with nothing but the smartphone in your hand! Simply search mobile phone photography on YouTube for loads of tips and tricks.

I don’t know about you, but I love podcasts. Especially ones with a great story! Podcasts are a great way to get inspired, as you can listen to inspiring and fascinating conversations anywhere you are, on your commute, while prepping dinner, or during your workout at the gym.
I have found some amazing interviews where successful women are interviewed about how they got to where they are today.
Second Life is an interview style podcast where highly successful female entrepreneurs talk about how they changed careers to get to where they are today.
They give a really honest account that includes setbacks, overcoming weaknesses, and how they deal with challenges.
Notable guests include Reese Witherspoon, Cindy Crawford, Angelica Nwandu, and looooaaddddds more
