She is both an entrepreneur and a philanthropist, having co-founded the huge tech company HTC, which manufactures smartphones that comprise around 20% of the USA’s mobile phone market, as well as VIA Technologies, that makes integrated chipsets
Her father, Wang Yung-Ching founded plastic and petrochemicals conglomerate, the Formosa group.
She spent many years of her career manufacturing phones for other companies, and didn’t really start to take off until she started HTC.
She began working for First International Computer company in 1982. With a group of friends as business partners, Wang founded VIA in 1987, and HTC ten years later. As of 2014, Forbes listed her as the 54th most powerful woman in the world.
